Closure of UNMIL

The United Nations Mission in Liberia was established in October 2003 to support for the implementation of a ceasefire agreement and peace process, and to assist with the maintenance and restoration of law and order throughout Liberia. The mission successfully completed its mandate on 30 March 2018.

<p style="text-align: justify;">Coffee Break is UNMIL Radio&rsquo;s flagship news and current affairs program that highlights issues of concerns to UNMIL, government of Liberia, Civil Society and Grassroots communities. Issues such as peace and reconciliation, elections, women&rsquo;s issues, current events, governance, rule of law, electricity and road construction among others are captured in the program which is aired Mondays-Fridays.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Coffee Break today featured live interviews with the following persons and issues:</p>

<ul><li style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Othello Tarbah</strong> - Deputy for Expenditure/ Legislative Budget Office spoke about the process of the budget hearing at the Legislature;</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Atty. Ambrose Nmah</strong> &ndash; Director of Communication / the Judiciary spoke about report that the Circuit Court in River Gee County is operating from a makeshift structure;</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Cllr. Tiawon Gongloe</strong> - Respected Human Rights and Constitutional Lawyer opposes calls for the relaxing of constitutional provisions to allow for participation in the elections&hellip;</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Isaac Redd</strong> &ndash; Director of press &amp; public Affairs / House of Representatives spoke about the ratification of a US$59.5m road pavement deal for Bomi County;</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Varfee Holmes</strong> &ndash; Public Affairs Director / Liberia Statistics and Geo-Information Services conducted census workshop for media practitioners</li>
