The United Nations is today releasing the agreed Terms of Reference and Core Rules of Procedure for a Syrian-led, Syrian-owned, credible, balanced and inclusive Constitutional Committee to be facilitated by the United Nations in Geneva.

​These were agreed by the Government of the Syrian Arab Republic and the Syrian Negotiations Commission with the facilitation of the Special Envoy for Syria Geir O. Pedersen.​

​The Special Envoy will brief the Security Council on Monday, 30 September on the agreement and the way ahead in the political process.​

​The names of the 150 members of the Constitutional Committee will be made public in due course by the United Nations once all nominees have formally confirmed their participation.
