At Thursday’s Syria Humanitarian Task Force meeting in Geneva, Senior Humanitarian Adviser Najat Rochdi urged Member States to support the United Nations’ immediate humanitarian priorities in Syria.

Ms. Rochdi: Thank you very much and thank you all for being here, it is always good to see you I am happy, it is a nicer setting, and I hope that would be the case all the time.

Mr. Pedersen: I was very pleased with the broad support to my five priorities from the Security Council. I am sure you listened just as carefully as I did to that.

Mr. Pedersen: First of all, as you know, I was here to have consultations with the Astana Guarantors - so I had good discussions with the Russians, the Iranians and the Turks and also with others.

Ms. Rochdi: Thank you very much Alessandra. Good morning everybody and thank you for your patience.

Q: Regarding your latest briefing to the UN Security Council, and the global tour you have made, I would like to ask you about the latest outcomes of such meetings, as a first question.

So I had two days of good discussions here in Damascus. We discussed a wide range of issues, of course first thing on the implementation of Security Council resolution 2254.

Today, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, the UN Special Envoy for Syria, Geir O. Pedersen, met with the Women’s Advisory Board (WAB) in Geneva.
