23 Sep 2019 - I was last in Damascus in July for consultations with the Government of Syria.
Since then, I have had several rounds of consultations with the opposition Syrian Negotiations Commission.
Today, I had another very positive meeting with Syrian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Walid Muallem discussing the remaining issues leading to the formation of the Constitutional Committee.

08 Aug 2019 - Thursday in the International Syria Support Group’s (ISSG) Humanitarian Task Force meeting, Member States were urged to use their influence to support the reduction of violence in northwest Syria, and to increase their support for critical humanitarian needs in Syria.

19 Jul 2019 - During the International Syria Support Group’s (ISSG) Humanitarian Task Force meeting Thursday, Senior Humanitarian Adviser Najat Rochdi renewed her call to member states to support the UN’s immediate humanitarian priorities. Rochdi highlighted that humanitarian needs are vast across Syria, an estimated 11.7 million people need assistance, 5 million of whom are in acute need.

06 Jun 2019 - During Thursday’s Humanitarian Task Force meeting, we heard firsthand reporting from our UN colleagues based in the region about the increasingly horrific brutality in recent weeks by all parties involved in the de-escalation area in northwestern Syria, which has caused significant civilian causalities and the displacement of hundreds of thousands of people. Three million people in Idlib need protection. A humanitarian catastrophe is a grave danger if the violence does not cease.

30 Apr 2019 - Mr. Pedersen: I was very pleased with the broad support to my five priorities from the Security Council. I am sure you listened just as carefully as I did to that.As you heard, my first priority is to deepen the dialogue with the Syrian government and with the SNC, the opposition, to be able to build trust, confidence, and to see that tangible results can be achieved in Syria. So, we can start seeing changes taking place.

26 Apr 2019 - Mr. Pedersen: First of all, as you know, I was here to have consultations with the Astana Guarantors - so I had good discussions with the Russians, the Iranians and the Turks and also with others. And of course we did not expect before we came to have an agreement on the Constitutional Committee, but to continue the good discussions we had already - not only with Turkey, Iran and Russia - but of course also the consultations I had with the Syrian government, and the Syrian opposition.

23 Mar 2019 - Q: Regarding your latest briefing to the UN Security Council, and the global tour you have made, I would like to ask you about the latest outcomes of such meetings, as a first question. And the second question, now that you were in Damascus, and held talks and discussions with the regime, and now that you are here to hold discussions with the opposition, I would like to know also about the outcomes of such meetings as well.
