I told his Excellency the Foreign Minister Dr. Fayssal Mekdad my deepest condolences for the losses that have affected all the Syrian people and I expressed our mourning for the loss of life. And I also assured him that the United Nations would do whatever we can to support the Syrian people in this crisis.

I send my deepest condolences to those affected, many who have already suffered enormously and for many years.
29 Nov 2022 - I think my opening comments will be basically what I said to the Security Council, so just to highlight, of course, that I have spent most of the time on the situation on the ground, with the escalation we are seeing there, and as I said a few times during the briefing, we are afraid that we will see further escalation, and we asked all key actors to refrain from escalation, and to concentrate on the political process.
